Entitled "Dove" this 1960s woodcut on paper is by New York artist and illustrator Hope Brooks Meryman (1931-1975). Meryman was a master at capturing the feeling of a moment into large-scale woodblocks. Each edition was hand-rubbed in her studio in New York's Meat Packing District. Her work was shown by the Carus, Greenwich and Associated American Galleries in New York. She also exhibited extensively across the country, including the Library of Congress, and the American Watercolor Society, to name a few. Meryman studied with Antonio Frasconi, John Groth, Seong Moy, and George Grosz. Framed in a vintage wood frame with dark brown finish and gold filet.

Hand-picked by Serena & Lily from Lost Art Salon's Collection, a renowned San Francisco-based resource for original 20th century works of modernist, vintage, antique, and contemporary art. We like to think of the Lost Art Salon pieces chosen for our Serena & Lily Art Collection as being “twice curated”.
