"Figures In Landscapes" by Anne Granick

This is a 1947 oil on canvas by historic New York City artist, Anne Granick (1911-200). Granick was a dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company until she was injured in 1939. It was then that she began to paint. The piece is entitled ÒFigures in LandscapeÓ. Granick was friends with Mark Rothko, Milton Avery and other influential artists on the scene in Mid Century Manhattan. The double wood frame was custom hand-built with a white inner frame and an antique gold exterior frame.
