"Cloudy Day on the Pearl River" by Charles Hutson

This is an oil on board by important American artist, Charles Hutson (1840-1936). Entitled ÒCloudy Day on the Pearl RiverÓ, this piece is highly representative of the Southern landscapes he is best know for. HutsonÕs artistic career began late in life, but quickly attracted the attention of the art world, the press, and the public. His artwork was first shown publicly in 1917, at the Society of Independent Artists in New York, and again in 1925. His first one-person museum exhibition was held in 1931 at the Isaac Delgado Museum of Art in New Orleans. This piece is presented in its original restored period frame.
