"Half Moon Bay" by Alysanne McGaffey

This 1989 oil painting, entitled ÒHalf Moon BayÓ, is by noted painter Alysanne McGaffey (b.1931). McGaffey was a part of the Bay Area Figurative Movement of the late 1950s and early 60s, which was an important period in the history of American art. The palette and brush technique in this piece are both very representative of this significant art movement. McGaffey is still living and resides in the seaside town of Pacifica, California, where she maintains her painting studio. This piece is framed in a contemporary wood frame with historic character.
