What's the best part of your job?
I love being in the home décor business because I can't think of a more meaningful place in my life than my home. It's where I build my community and my family. Being able to design a company that honor these things is beyond rewarding.
Life before Serena & Lily?
Seventeen years in technology and accounting. Corporate refugee of Microsoft and Deloitte & Touche. Mill Valley baby boutique owner. Serial entrepreneur.
How would you describe your own home?
Very warm and welcoming. I love to entertain and invite guests over, and I love to tuck my children into cozy beds at night. But most of all, I love to tuck myself into a cozy bed at night because I'm truly spent at the end of each day.
A typical weekend at your house?
I have three very active boys. We go to the beach, playtennis and board games. My husband has them gardening their own plots and we have 18 chickens, which inspired our "Fresh Eggs For Sale" stand. Beyond that, I love to kick back and have a glass of wine with my husband and friends.
Greatest indulgence?
Splurging on my home. And it’s mostly with our own products. I’m eternally inspired by what Serena and our design team dream up. The joke around the office is that I’m our biggest fan.
Special talent?
Pulling together a dinner party for 40 in 15 minutes. Packing for any trip in one small carry-on — a skill that still shocks and amazes my coworkers.
Entertaining secret?
Candlelight. And really good takeout. I’m the first to admit that multitasking in the kitchen is not my forté. Serena once witnessed a pizza on fire in my oven because I was so caught up in the conversation, I completely forgot about it.
Beyond Serena & Lily, what fuels your soul?
I am deeply committed to raising children who understand and care about the world. I work tirelessly on the Cambodian Children’s Fund because I believe they are breaking the cycle of extreme poverty.
