Entitled "Venus Redux" this 1969 oil on canvas figure is by Oakland artist, educator and Doctor of Fine Arts Rip Matteson (1920-2011). Matteson served as the president of the Carmel Art Association in the 1960s and received numerous awards including the Phelan Award for Achievement in Art, the El Cerrito Memorial Award and recognition as an artist by the Carmel Arts Festival. Signed lower left. Framed in the restored original artist built lath wood frame with gold face.Hand-picked by Serena & Lily from Lost Art Salon's Collection, a renowned San Francisco-based resource for original 20th century works of modernist, vintage, antique, and contemporary art.
