This 1967 gouache on paper abstracted landscape is by Bay Area painter and sculptor Laura Lengyel (b. 1946). She studied at Oakland’s Mills College and later moved to Mendocino. From 1968-1973, Lengyel operated Gallery West, Mendocino’s first art gallery. Lengyel continued her education at Humboldt State University, CCAC, Mendocino Art Center, and College of the Redwoods. In 1980, Lengyel organized The Artist Models Association, which trained artist models and managed their job bookings. From 1979 to 1980, Lengyel apprenticed with sculptor Spero Anargyros in his San Francisco studio. Lengyel lives in the Bay Area. Framed in a restored vintage wood frame with a warm silver face and black sides using white archival matting and conservation clear glass.
Hand-picked by Serena & Lily from Lost Art Salon's Collection, a renowned San Francisco-based resource for original 20th century works of modernist, vintage, antique, and contemporary art. We like to think of the Lost Art Salon pieces chosen for our Serena & Lily Art Collection as being “twice curated”.

If necessary, oil and acrylic paintings can be cleaned with a damp cloth or by a professional art conserver. Works under glass can be cleaned using a glass cleaner, but avoid harsh chemicals when cleaning works under plexi to prevent surface damage.
