This May 1828 charcoal on paper is by Austrian artist Carl Rahl (1812-1865). Rahl studied at The Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, and later traveled to Munich, Stuttgart, Hungary, and Rome. Rahl’s style was deeply influenced by his studies in Rome, particularly in color and perspective. In 1850, he was appointed Professor at Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Framed in a restored vintage wood frame using archival matting and conservation glass. Signed lower right, dated lower left.
