Entitled "Oat Harvest" this 1925 oil on paper board scene is by German-born painter, printmaker, and art restorer Carl Barnaš (1879-1953). He studied in Berlin and at Academie Julien-Colarossi in Paris. Barnas moved to Quito, Ecuador in the 1930s and taught at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. He opened an art restoration studio, restoring hundreds of 17th and 18th century religious colonial paintings. Barnas painted botanical illustrations and plein air landscapes in Europe and Ecuador’s remote countryside. Framed in a vintage wood frame with beautiful age and visible patina with an antique gold face with gold fillet and warm white linen liner.

Hand-picked by Serena & Lily from Lost Art Salon's Collection, a renowned San Francisco-based resource for original 20th century works of modernist, vintage, antique, and contemporary art. We like to think of the Lost Art Salon pieces chosen for our Serena & Lily Art Collection as being “twice curated”.
