Your home has such a beautiful and cohesive mix. How did you design and decorate for the whole home here?
Signature colors are key for bringing a uniform look. For me, it’s the whites, soft greys, blues, and natural wood tones. The relaxed, coastal vibe in each room also brings it all together for a cohesive feel. Using lots of woven accents and rattan helps the natural style blend from one room to the next.
Where do you get inspiration for your designs and décor?
Pinterest is a great resource. And I love using Serena & Lily catalogs and your website to see how products are styled. The mix of wood and white is something that Serena & Lily does really well and that I've tried to replicate in my own home.
We noticed that you chose our outdoor Boonville Coffee Table for your living room. Why did you choose an outdoor table over an indoor one?
I got the Boonville Coffee Table
because it’s a gorgeous piece designed to withstand the elements, and I knew it would withstand the storm of my children. I knew that they were going to be standing on it when I turned my back, which they do. But because it’s meant to be wiped down, I can use a damp cloth and it’s white again. For us, it’s way better than a glass coffee table or an antique.
What has been your biggest design challenge in this home?
I would say one of the challenges is balancing my vision with what’s practical for a family of six and a big dog. We ended up with an indoor-outdoor rug after our dog decided to use our jute one as a chew toy. I think sometimes it’s just a little harder to try to mesh the two worlds of beauty and practicality for a big family. But in the end, it will save you stress and money!
