Laurie Fisher lives and paints in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Maine’s coastal landscape serves as a constant backdrop, influencing the palette and architecture of her paintings. From its first mark, each painting presents a dilemma—how to resolve. Balance is achieved with color, lines, scratches, adding and subtracting layers, building and flattening, complicating and then quieting. Laurie’s process is intuitive and tactile, leading to a wide variety of work, though connected through the use of white, bold color, and particular marks that show up again and again.

If necessary, oil and acrylic paintings can be cleaned with a damp cloth or by a professional art conserver. Works under glass can be cleaned using a glass cleaner, but avoid harsh chemicals when cleaning works under plexi to prevent surface damage.
